Letter: Guildford Should Follow Stamford’s Independent Example

Published on: 20 Jul, 2018

From Fiona Curtis

In Stamford in Lincolnshire, thirteen out of twenty-one councillors are Independent. I hope that Cllr McShee considers this option. It is indeed a very sorry state of affairs when a hard-working councillor is treated this way.

Some time ago I recall Cllr Spooner confirming that there was no party whip. But it seems that a whip is in fact quite unnecessary as those who are not 100% compliant are made to walk the plank!

Affirmation of the Party’s reputation as the ‘Nasty Party’ come thick and fast.

Totally agree. Hope the people of the borough of Guildford think about standing as Independents and make Guildford somewhere to be respected again.

    Teamwork

There are four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody.

There was an important job to be done and Everybody was asked to do it.

Everybody was sure Somebody would do it.

Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.

Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody’s job.

Everybody thought Anybody could do it but Nobody realised that Everybody wouldn’t do it.

It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
