Letter: Poorly Located Bus Lanes Add to Congestion

In response to: What Is Going On With the A25 Parkway Bus Lane?

Dragon correspondents are to be congratulated for highlighting the Parkway anomaly.

Do bus lanes make bus services more reliable and more popular?

I believe they do if sensibly located and controlled but is this true for central Guildford? I wonder what other readers think?

It seems the Onslow Street bus lane, in combination with the York Road roundabout traffic snarl ups and the lane switching, often seen in the gyratory, actually create more congestion, more traffic pollution and accident risk?

Looking ahead to the revised bus station layout and the long awaited Town Centre Masterplan (”GERP”) might we see some more imaginative road schemes and changes to our town centre transport infrastructure?
