Don’t be put off by the scaffolding around Guildford’s historic Angel Hotel and the passageway beside it ready for renovation work, at Coffee Culture in Angel Gate it’s business as usual.

The coffee is good here – and at a nice price. We also enjoyed a chic caramel crispie (perhaps a bit too sweet for my taste) and a tasty chic hazelnut croquante.

The menu is wide ranging – soup, sandwiches, baguettes, paninis, pastries and cakes. There’s a good range of hot and cold drinks, smoothies and also Marshfield Farm West Country real dairy ice cream.

Good coffee and delicious snacks.

Inside it’s clean, bright and modern with a red and beige colour scheme. If the weather is nice, Angel Gate is a great place to sit outside and enjoy your drinks and snacks. There are plenty of tables. It is a popular place for smokers but if you dislike cigarette smoke you may well be put off.

Coffee Culture definitely has that continental cafe feel with a good laid-back atmosphere – and right in the heart of Surrey.
