Police at the incident at Woodbridge Hill, Guildford, on Wednesday.
A police chase, involving up to five police vehicles, ended on Woodbridge Hill on Wednesday.
A Guildford Dragon News reader saw the incident and took this photo.
Two men, who witnesses say were on bicycles and appeared to be trying to escape the pursuing police, were apprehended when they turned into a service road beside bookmakers Coral.
A police spokeswomen later made the following statement:
“Two men were arrested on Wednesday (18 July 2012) on suspicion of attempted burglary at a property on Farnham Road, Guildford.
“Just before midday on 18 July two men attempted to break-in to a detached house but were disturbed by the homeowner returning and made off on bicycles towards Guildford
“A short time later town centre CCTV operators spotted two men matching the descriptions given of the suspects cycling on the Southway Bridge over the A3. Police patrols attended the location and following a short foot chase apprehended the suspects on Woodbridge Hill.
“Two local men (aged 29 and 32-years-old) were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary. Both men are on bail until September pending further enquires.”
Castle Grounds Incident
Another TGDN reported an unconnected incident at the Castle Grounds. He said that the police seemed to have sealed it off like a crime scene.
A police spokeswomen could only say: “Surrey Police can confirm an investigation is underway following a report of an incident in the grounds of the castle in Castle Street, Guildford on Wednesday, 18 July.“
