There’s still time to enter Guildford Lions Club’s annual charity runs taking place this Sunday, September 2.
Rescheduled from May when the annual event was cancelled due to wet wether, it take place in the parkland at Hatchlands, East Clandon.
Charities that will benefit include HASTE (Heart & Stroke Trust Endeavour), based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital via the British Heart Foundation, and local community projects through the Guildford Lions Club welfare committee.
There will be a 10k run for the more seriously minded athletes and a more gentle 5k fun run for those who just like to get some exercise in great surroundings.
The 10k race starts at 11am and is open to all adults aged 16+ with cash prizes for both the men’s and women’s classes. Entry costs £12.
The 5k run commences at 1.30pm and is suitable for all ages with entry fees of £10 for adults and £5 for children aged between five and 16. Under fives go free.
All competitors are encouraged to seek sponsorship for the BHF and all monies raised for the BHF will go to HASTE for vital cardiac equipment to assist local people.
An added bonus to this Guildford Lions event is that, by courtesy of the National Trust, all competitors and supporters arriving at the park prior to 1.30pm will be given free entry to the grounds.
