A new free guide book listings lots of things going on in the Stoke area of Guildford is hot off the press and is being distributed right now.

The summer 2012 edition of a free guide book, What’s on in Stoke.

It has details of a wide range of things to do, clubs and societies to join, and activities to take part in for all age groups.

These include scouts and beavers, community cafes, residents’ associations, youth groups, churches, sports and leisure activities.

What’s on in Stoke has been produced with help from Voluntary Action South West Surrey in conjunction with Guildford Children’s Centre, the Row Barge pub, and others. It has been designed by Dan James Design & Photography.

In the guide’s introduction, the chairman of the Bellfields Residents’ association, Chris Franklin, writes: “Stoke is a unique area of Guildford, with a particularly diverse and lively community. From the natural peace and beauty of Bellfields Green, to the commercial and industrial activity of Slyfield; from the winding streets of Weyfield to the gently curving River Wey; from the flats on one side to the terraced houses and cottages on the other, Stoke is an area of contrasts.”

Chris notes that the area is well served with facilities for all, although perhaps not everyone realises this. He is encouraged that many of the community groups are working together to come up with ways to offer new activities to the area.

Copies of the booklet have been delivered to householders and further copies are being made available in local shops, GP surgeries and other outlets including the Row Barge pub.
