Wear your wellies and be prepared for muddy conditions if you have a ticket for the Celebrating the London 2012 Torch Relay this Friday evening, July 20, in Stoke Park.
The unrelenting wet weather has soaked the park and the thousands who visited GuilFest this past weekend have churned up parts of the site.
A spokesman for Guildford Borough Council, that is hosting the Torch Relay event, said: “We are now concentrating on getting Stoke Park ready for the next big event. We expect to welcome 25,000 ticket holders to this event, which is at the end of the park near Burchatts Barn. This was the most protected part of the park during GuilFest and well away from the main festival site.
“We will review the conditions today (Monday) and make a fuller assessment once GuilFest is removed. We will then take any necessary actions during this week. We advise all ticket holders to come prepared, just in case certain areas of the park are still very muddy on Friday.”
