In response to: Debenhams Plan – the Whole Character of Our Town is at Stake

It seems to me that the political party system, when considering local issues, no longer works.

In the days when Independents, Ratepayers, and so on, made up a high proportion of many council bodies, things seemed to work better and there was more satisfaction from the public.

It is probably too late to change now but the proliferation of parties does not help matters.

I still remember when Guildford was a beautiful town but I think it is ruined now. Thank goodness Godalming is not far away.
