A woman in her thirties died this afternoon (February 20) in a traffic incident in Guildford town centre.
Pedestrians are reported to have been struck by a vehicle, believed to be a Land Rover Defender, that left the road around 1.30pm, at Onslow Bridge this afternoon. Some casualties were said to be trapped by the vehicle until rescued.
A police statement said: “Members of the public reported that a grey Landrover Defender left the road and was involved in a collision with a number of pedestrians and several people are believed to have suffered serious injuries.”
Later they added: “Police can confirm that one of the pedestrians – a woman in her thirties – was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and Surrey Police officers are providing support to her family at this extremely difficult time.
“Another pedestrian, a man in his forties, suffered serious pelvic injuries as a result of the collision and has been taken to St George’s Hospital in Tooting. A third pedestrian, a woman also in her thirties, suffered minor injuries.
“The driver of the vehicle, a man in his forties, has been taken by ambulance to the Royal Surrey County Hospital with what are believed to be minor injuries.”
The road was closed at the junction with Farnham Road while specialist collision investigation officers carried out further enquiries as part of an ongoing investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Numerous police cars, ambulances and two fire engines were observed at the scene.
Some of the casualties were evacuated by air ambulance which landed at Woodbridge Road sports ground.. The incident occurred at the railway station end of Bridge Street opposite the YMCA, near the junction with Walnut Tree Close.
Onslow Bridge was closed for several hours causing major traffic disruption and tail backs. The bridge was also closed to pedestrians who were advised of alternative routes by police officers manning the cordon.
The bridge was re-opened around 5pm.
In a similar incident in October last year pedestrians were injured when a car mounted the pavement at the bottom of North Street. The driver is understood to have suffered a seizure.
