It’s Time To Enter Guildford In Bloom 2016

Green-fingered gardeners are invited to enter the 2016 Guildford in Bloom public competition and the Blooming Schools Novel Containers competition.

The Guildford in Bloom public competition is free to enter and open to anyone who loves gardening and wants to help make Guildford a beautiful place to live, work and visit.

It has eight categories:
1. Best Front Garden
2. Best Allotment
3. Best Garden for Wildlife
4. Best Pub in Bloom
5. Best Container Garden
6. Best Vegetable/Kitchen Garden
7. Best Neighbourhood Project
8. Innovation in Horticulture

This year the theme is the Queen’s 90th birthday. If you would like to theme your garden, choose your category from the list above and let Guildford Borough Council know that you would like to enter to win this special award.

The closing date is June 19.

Judging will take place place between July 4 and 22. It is not possible to advise individual entrants of the exact day and time of judging (with the exception of the vegetable/kitchen, wildlife gardens, neighbourhood project and innovation in horticulture categories).

Judges will not be available to discuss individual entries; the judges’ decision is final.

Winners will be notified by email and invited to attend the awards ceremony which takes place on September 12.

The Blooming Schools 2016 Novel Container Competition is free to enter and open to all schools in the local area. This year there are two themes: Roald Dahl or The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

The closing date for entry is May 31.

Judging will take place between June 6 and 17.

Up to four novel containers will be judged for each entry.

The awards ceremony will take place on June 22.

Alternatively, download a copy of the application form from thre council’s website www.guildford.gov.uk/guildfordinbloom and email it to or post a copy to: Parks & Leisure Services, Stoke Park, Nightingale Road, Guildford GU1 1ER.

Application forms can also be collected from the Tourist Information Centre in Guildford High Street.
