The Guildford office of leading accountancy firm PKF has raised much-needed funds for a local charity at a recent cake bake day.

Last Friday (27 July), staff at the firm’s Park Street offices were invited to dress down and bake cakes with a sporting theme to raise money for the Halow Project, a Guildford-based charity supporting young people with learning disabilities. The idea was the brainchild of PKF trainee business adviser Felicity Cooper.

Thirteen cakes were baked and entered into a competition before being sold; raising a total of £150 for the Halow project. Fellow PKF trainee business adviser Katherine Rychlinski was crowned the winner with her swimmer cake which judges Rhodri Whitlock, PKF partner, and Yvonne Hignell, Halow Project CEO, declared a masterpiece!

“It was a fun day with a serious purpose, and I’m delighted such a simple exercise could raise much-needed funds for this young and growing charity,” said Rhodri Whitlock.

“Thank you so much to everyone at PKF who took part,” added Yvonne Hignell. “The cakes looked fabulous, tasted delicious and will indirectly help us continue our work supporting young people with learning disabilities to live independent and meaningful lives in their local communities.”
