Detectives in Guildford are appealing for witnesses following an affray in Wharf Road, Guildford a week ago in which a hammer is believed to have been used.
The incident involving two men happened at 1.15pm on Wednesday, July 30. Officers were called following a report of two men fighting with one having a hammer in his hand. As a result of the offence one man was taken to the Royal Surrey County Hospital suffering with a shoulder injury.
PC Leon Foster investigating said: “This was a vicious incident played out in broad daylight outside the Guildford Hockey and Cricket Club. I am keen to hear from anyone who may have any information relating to the affray and ask them to contact me as soon as possible.
“Surrey Police will not tolerate such aggressive and violent behaviour on its streets and will do everything possible to bring any offender to justice. Residents and workers alike have a right to feel safe and not threatened within their community.”

A 23-year-old man from West Clandon is currently on bail in relation to the incident. He is due to report back on 4 September 2014.
