Thousands of pounds worth of antiques and silverware has been stolen from a house in Albury.

Thieves forced their way through a back door of the residential property in Chilworth Road sometime between 3.30pm and 4.30pm yesterday (Wednesday, 6 August).

The offenders made a tidy search of the downstairs and made off with a quantity of items including bronze and silver sculptures, silver ornaments and tableware, carriage clocks and china. The haul is valued at more than £80,000.

A white transit van was in the area at the time of the incident and a young man was seen running towards the property. The transit van is believed to have driven off in the direction of the A25.

Detective Constable Dan Chant investigating said: “This was an audacious burglary in which numerous valuable pieces have been stolen. They are both sentimentally and financially important to the victim and we need anyone with any information to call Surrey Police.

“I am appealing for anyone who may have seen the van or spotted any suspicious activity in the vicinity to contact officers. However small the detail, please pass it on to us, it may be the crucial piece to help locate these offenders and bring them to justice.

Two vases were also among the burglars haul. The police ask anyone being offered the items pictured to contact them.
