The boardwalk at Ash Green Meadows has now been repaired and re-opened after being closed for safety reasons.

The boardwalk is a popular spot for walkers enjoying the countryside to the south of Ash.

A number of elderly people were reported to have tripped and fallen on the uneven walkway, which had deteriorated over the years

The site is owned by the Land Trust, a Cheshire-based charity that owns or manages open spaces restored from derelict land, and is managed by the Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership (BVCP).

Aware of the accidents, the BVCP  took the decision to close the boardwalk.

In a statement this week the Land Trust, which funded the repairs, said: “We are delighted that the wooden boardwalk has now been fully repaired by local contractors, allowing visitors to continue accessing and enjoying this important local green space.”
