Bowls Season Under Way For Castle Green

Sunday, May 1: on a warm and sunny afternoon the first match of the season saw the club host a game, of four triples, against a team from Ewhurst.

The games on two of the rinks were very close while on the other two rinks the honours were shared and there were clear winners from both clubs.

The match was eventually won by Ewhurst with just a three shot difference overall: Castle Green 64 shots – Ewhurst 67 shots.

Tuesday, May 3: in the Senior Mens’ Tuesday Triples League, playing the Guildford club, at home Castle Green did not manage a win to start the 2016 season in this competition.

The match was well balanced at tea but the final session saw one of the teams from Guildford take a commanding lead in their game and win by 9 shots (9 – 18).

On the other rink Castle Green held their own and ended the game 5 shots ahead (19 – 14). Overall we lost the match by 4 shots – CGBC 28 shots – Guildford 32 shots.

Thursday ,May 5:  on a warm afternoon on the Castle Green, we managed a win over Shere Bowling Club by 61-41.

Saturday, May 7:  we enjoyed a lovely day at Pippbrook Bowls Club, in Dorking but we were pipped to the post by one point, losing by 62-61.

It was a close run thing, and a most enjoyable game. Castle Green came good in the second half. At the half-way point we were trailing by 22 points! What a recovery! Well done everyone.

Sunday, May 8: it was a beautiful day on the green, with all the blossoms out, the brass band playing, and the sun shining. We lost by 16 points to Oatlands Park.
