Butterflies at White Lion Walk?

Butterflies might be one of the last things on the minds of shoppers in White Lion Walk but the shopping centre managers hope to change that.

Coinciding with the national ‘Save Our Butterflies Week’, the shopping centre is holding a Butterfly Awareness Day as part of its nature and wildlife programme, which is running throughout 2012.

Attractions and events include:

•  Arty Party workshop for children to make their own butterfly mask

•  Face painting

•  Colouring stations

•  Butterfly fancy dress competition

But it’s not just for youngsters; staff from the centre will also be handing out free seeds to help you transform your garden into sweet-smelling havens – perfect for attracting a variety of butterflies.

Manager, Steve Cotney, comments: “We are very proud to be an environmentally friendly shopping centre and we work hard to help nature. Following the launch of our roof based bee apiary last year, our mission for 2012 is to help our shoppers understand the beauty of nature and how they can help wildlife in their own home. Our butterfly awareness will be the perfect opportunity to engage the little ones whilst helping the gardens of Surrey with our free seed giveaway.”

Events run from 11am to 4pm and all activities will be situated in the unit between Yumi and MJ Crystal Beauty.
