Seven people are reported injured after a car crashed in front of Guildford’s Friary Centre in North Street this morning (October 23) at 10.38am.

Two of those include a baby and a toddler.

The scene of the crash soon after it happened.

The scene of the crash with emergency services tending to those injured.

A one-year-old girl and a man and a woman were taken to St George’s Hospital in Tooting, with what are believed to be serious injuries.

A further four people, three women and a two-year-old boy, have been taken the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford with what are believed to be minor injuries.

Officers from Surrey Police’s collision investigation unit are appealing for witnesses. They can call 01483 639922 or 101 quoting reference P15274217.

An eyewitness at the scene said: “It seems a car carried on down North Street and ploughed into pedestrians.

“There seemed to be a lot of people injured and around 30 police officers and four ambulances are at the scene.

“But everything was very calm and in fact I thought at first that it was a drill, and not a real incident.”

Surrey Police have confirmed that “a silver VW Polo left the road and was involved in a collision with a number of pedestrians. Emergency services quickly attended and remain at the scene.”

The area in the town centre remains closed while police officers carry out further enquiries as part of an ongoing investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
