Care for Guildford is an all-volunteer local charity. Its main purpose is to provide door-to-door transport for elderly or infirm residents of Guildford to medical and other essential appointments.

It operates Monday to Friday during normal working hours and is a small, friendly organisation with a number of social events so that volunteers can meet and get to know each other as well as the clients.

Care for Guildford is lookiing to recruit volunteer duty officers (telephone organisers) and drivers.

These should also be permanently resident in Guildford or immediate surroundings.

Duty officers match drivers to jobs. They work on average one day a month from home. Matching and recording of jobs is done using a supplied laptop and software. Training is provided, and you initially shadow an experienced duty officer.

Drivers use their own car to transport clients from home to their appointment and return. The hours are totally flexible. You can do as many or as few as you like, and can accept or reject jobs. Mileage expenses can be claimed.

Because we are serving potentially vulnerable people, volunteers will need two referees and a DBS check which we will arrange.
