As a new Jubilee Union Flag stretched out in the breeze, bowlers at the Castle Green Club were taking advantage of the sunshine on Friday (May 27) to play some of their club trophy matches.
In the photo above, club veteran Shirley West is taking on Nicky Secrett who she beat in the club handicap to move on to the next round.
Also the club’s social secretary, Shirley said: “Our club is definitely in the right spirit for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
“On Friday, June 3 at 5pm we are holding a fun evening of bowls followed by our President Johnathan Reading cutting the ribbon for the (what species?) tree we have planted for Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.”
“In keeping with the event, we will be playing in red white and blue with cake and fizz to end the evening.”
