It was a friendly occasion and a good time was had by all, followed by a delicious salad supper. Puttenham won 57-50.

However, Castle Green won by 19-13 on one rink in a team led by Brian West and including Tim Sampson, Jim Horwood and Colin Summerhayes.

The team led by Shirley West and including Peter Smith, Margret Plummer and Viv Smith lost by 15-21, and the team led by mid-week Captain Jill Bird and including Mary Reeves, John Reeves and Paul Plummer lost by 16-23.

On Tuesday, June 25, on quite a pleasant June afternoon, CGBC mens’ team were able to beat Holloway Hill in the Tuesday Triples League by 41-35. On Sunday, June 23, in slightly warmer weather, but under a leaden sky, CGBC was put to rout in their away match against a very strong team from Billingshurst 42-91.

Brian West (skip) led his team of Jim Horwood and Viv Smith to victory on their rink, by 18-12, but the other three rinks all lost.

Shirley West (skip) with Ann Bailey and Terry Smith went down 9-22; Colin Summerhayes (skip) with John Heyes and Ann Lewis went down 9-26; and Rob Williams (skip) with Colin Downham and Hazel Tappenden went down  6-31.

It was a very tough green to play on, and needed a lot of weight, and the home team had a clear advantage in knowing it well. Club captain Diana Summerhayes, who is out of action with tennis elbow, cheered on the winners, assisted by a supporting team of Pat Williams, Paul Tappenden Wendy Horwood and  Jill Bird.

On Saturday, June 22, well wrapped up on a cool windy day, when fortunately it didn’t do more than spit with rain, CGBC won their away match against Hindhead by 42-36.

CGBC were two points ahead on one rink (skip Derek Redgwell, with Peter Smith and Dennis Hirst-Marsden), and four points ahead on the other rink (Colin Summerhayes, skip and acting captain, with John Heyes and Lynn Smith). It was a fun afternoon, despite the weather, followed by an excellent salad and fruit pies.
