Castle Green Bowling Club Ladies could not contain their excitement when they heard the news of Andy Murray’s Tennis Gold medal yesterday (5 Aug) and decide to fly the flag! They were taking part in the Ladies Open Day at Tongham Bowls Club. It is an annual knock-out event with prizes of £120 for the winners and £80 for the runners up.
Shirley West said: “Sadly we did not win today but it was a great day of bowling and we always enjoy meeting up with our competitor friends during the lovely lunch and tea they provide.
“We do still have two teams that have gone through to the quarter finals of the Wey Burn triples so we say, ‘Come on Castle Green! Just like Andy, we can do it!’ ”
