A Guildford solicitor has become president of a Catholic businessmen’s organisation for the second time.
Geoff Bignall, who has practised employment law in the town for over 20 years, took charge of the Guildford Circle of The Catenians, a group who aim to strengthen family life through friendship and faith.
He replaces Steve Rowden, a retired international oil engineer, who has arranged organised many social activities for the members, known as brothers, including brewery visits and tennis tournaments.
Although The Catenians is men-only, the circle holds ladies’ nights and other activities to which the family are invited. One recent barbecue included people aged from 9 months to 90.
The 50-year-old Guildford Catenian Circle extends from Haslemere, through Farnham to Leatherhead, numbering around 60 members. In addition to monthly meetings at Guildford Golf Club, there is a packed social programme including sports, arts trips and dinners with the parish clergy.
Membership of The Catenians is by invitation, but if you are a practising Catholic, a professional or business man and are interested in meeting other family-centred individuals, please contact the group via their website: www.guildfordcatenians.org.uk
