Special celebrations to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday are taking place at Guildford Borough Council’s social centres at Park Barn and at Shawfield in Ash this Thursday, April 21.
The centres cater for people over the age of 55 and anyone in that age group is welocme to go along and take part in the fun.
Both centres will be providing a special meal at noon, followed by entertainment. Price: £5 for members of the centres and £6.50 for non members.
Cllr Tony Rooth, lead councillor for housing and social welfare, said: “The Queen is so popular and respected that many Guildford residents want to celebrate her 90th birthday on April 21. Our social centres at Park Barn and Shawfield in Ash are holding special lunches and being entertained to remember and enjoy Her Majesty’s birthday.
“This is a great celebration and our centres have many events going through each week. At Park Barn and Shawfield we ensure that visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a whole range of fun and interesting activities including pool, snooker, line dancing, Wii bowling, arts and crafts, and more.
“Both our centres also have regular special events such as bread tasting supported by a local bakery, intergeneration bake osffs with their local primary school, a women at war theme day with entertainment and pie and pint lunch to name but a few at Shawfield in April and May.
