Headway Surrey, supporting adults with acquired brain injury, was the chosen charity benefitting from the retiring collection at Guildford Chamber Choir’s evening at Holy Trinity Church in Guildford.
The choir’s chairman, Diana Thrush, introduced the special evening. It was particularly significant in that the choir was remembering a dear friend and fellow member who had sadly passed away (and who had worked with people with brain injury) and at the same time celebrating the choir’s 40th anniversary.
Headway Surrey’s chief executive Sonja Freebody said: “We were delighted to be the beneficiaries of the retiring collection, we collected £520. It was a very beautiful and moving evening. The singers have amazing energy and passion and obviously enjoy their singing.
“I hope that I made a connection with the audience about Headway Surrey and helped to raise awareness of our work throughout Surrey for those people who suffer a sudden acquired brain injury from events such as a stroke or road traffic accident.
“We know 20,000 people in Surrey are injured in this way every year and we need to reach them, and we have vacancies, so I hope people will be in contact”.
Headway Surrey still has spaces for its fundraising Christmas decoration workshop this Friday, November 22, from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
