After many years closed and looking unloved, the famous Cinderella’s nightclub is to reopen in North Street with a grand launch on Saturday, December 21.
It will be renamed Cinderella’s Lounge for the more upmarket feel of the place. And there will be a celebrity guest list to suit.
Celebs will include members of the cast from Absolutely Ascot, Dj Antonio from Marbella and people from the Daily Sport newspaper.
Paul Jones, who owns the new venue with his business partner, Billy Bath, said that they were aiming for a lounge concept early evening and a club later.
Paul said: “We wanted somewhere comfortable where you can take your wife or your colleagues to chill with a cocktail after work. The main music starts at 10.30pm to 11pm and that’s when it will be a club.”
He said that Cinderella’s Lounge had nothing to do with the old club other than the location. “It is going more upmarket – no sticky carpets anymore – but, because Cinderella’s is so well known in Guildford, we wanted to capitalise on the name.”
Speaking exclusively to The Guildford Dragon NEWS, Paul said that it was a new venture for both him and Billy. “We’ve taken a five year lease so it is a huge risk. We will be very hands-on. We will make this work.
“There will be a very strong No Drugs, No Violence policy at the club,” he added.
Paul, 34, said: “Guildford is my home and I spent a lot of time at Cinderella’s between the ages of 18 and 24 years old. All good memories.”

I used to work at the old Cinderella’s in the cloakroom and serve food. Dave Munday was the DJ.
What happy days!

I have many happy memories from the old Cinderella’s.
I wish the guys well, I really do. Hard work but I’m sure it will pay off.
All they need to get a lot of happy customers in is good music and fair prices but most of all pleasant staff and friendly bouncers, unlike back in my day.
Good luck to them all.
