Guildford Fringe Theatre Company has announced their first Christmas pantomime kicking off with Cinders.
But before loyal Dragon readers reach for the comment button in support of the Yvonne Arnaud, pause: Guildford Fringe want to bring something different into the town, for an adult-only audience.
Artistic Director, Nick Wyschna explained: “The adult panto is really taking off around the UK, we thought that it would be a good to have one in Guildford, and the Fringe is the right place.”
According to the Guildford Fringe: “In the mythical Kingdom of Fringeland, love is in short supply. Thankfully, innuendo and mirth are on the rise, and the antics of the dysfunctional Skidroe family would have you rolling in the aisles, if they had space for any aisles.
– Will Prince Charming find true love, or at least true lust?
– Will Cinders finally enjoy one of the Prince’s magnificent balls?
– Will the ugly sisters find a man that they don’t have to chloroform into submission?
Cinders: “Fun for NOT all the family.”
So far Cinders has a writer, Chris Towndrow, and a director, Emma Trow. The lead actress is Helen Hart, Godalming’s Hilary Harwood is the fairy and Anthony Fagan is Buttons. Some of the other parts are still to be cast, for example the ugly sisters and Dandini, the Prince’s assistant.
The show will run from Thursday 12th December to Saturday 21st December at 8pm, in The Back Room, The Star Inn, 2 Quarry Street, Guildford, Surrey, GU1 3TY
Tickets are £14.50 (£12.50 concessions) and can be bought from www.ticketsource.co.uk/guildfordfringe or by calling 0844 8700 887 (fees apply)
