Claire’s Column – Women in Business EXPO

In this regular column – a must-read for all those interested in Guildford business – Claire Dee shares the details of a new women in business exhibition.

Next month (October), I’m looking forward to attending the inaugural Women in Business EXPO. A brand new conference and exhibition that delivers guidance, inspiration and business services to women at any stage of their career or business journey.

Taking place on October 16 and 17 at the Farnborough International Conference and Exhibition Centre, it’s a must-attend opportunity for Guildford and Surrey businesspeople.

It came onto my radar in my capacity as co-chair of the Surrey Chambers Business Women in Surrey group. We meet regularly and organise our own events, and happily support and collaborate with other similar activities too.

I’m not always a huge fan of attending such day-long events as they take up so much time in already busy work diaries. But if there are inspiring speakers and seminars where you can learn and meet likeminded people, then it’s definitely worthwhile. Plus, it’s always a good opportunity to catch-up with colleagues outside of the day-to-day office environment.

If you fancy going too, here is a snapshot of what to expect:

Keynote speakers Karren Brady (from Birmingham City Football Club to TV’s The Apprentice) and Michelle Mone (founder of lingerie company Ultimo) will share how they’ve succeeded in the world of business.

Seminars covering everything from how to make money, find new clients, and juggle your work/life balance, to pursuing a career in technology.

Exhibitors offering guidance and advice across a whole spectrum of subjects from accountancy and education, to franchising, recruitment, and wellbeing.

Even if you can only spare a few hours, they will be well spent. See you there!

The Women in Business EXPO is free to attend. Visit its website to register and for further information.
