Help is needed to win funding for the return of a Guildford-based befriending project that helps vulnerable adults experiencing loneliness.
Community Angels, that was run by the Diocese of Guildford, ended in 2016 when its original funding ran out. It is being relaunched by the Guildford Town Centre Chaplaincy (who also run Street Angels).
It is seeking funding from the Aviva Community Fund and is hoping to be one of the first 200 projects to reach 1,000 votes. If it succeeds it will receive £1,000.
You can help by giving them your vote. It is quick and simple, all you have to do is go online here and follow the instructions.
However, be quick as the deadline is this Tuesday, November 21.
Plans are for the Community Angels service to restart in January, supporting people who may be facing loneliness, bereavement, illness, disability or other circumstances which may have led to isolation.
Winning cash from the Aviva Community Fund would enable the charity to recruit and train Community Angels’ volunteer befrienders who will provide regular visits to vulnerable adults.
Rachel Guilford is the project’s co-ordinator. She said: “Community Angel can make a difference to those who may feel they have no one. It may be as simple as listening to someone and sharing a cup of tea or introducing them to a new local activity.
