Councillor Suspected of ‘Pretending to be a Barrister’ Has Case Referred to the CPS

Police re-interviewed Cllr Monika Juneja today (Thursday, August 7) when she reported off bail at Guildford Police Station. The case is now being referred to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

Cllr Juneja was arrested on May 7 on suspicion of committing the criminal offences of wilfully pretending to be a barrister, making and using false instruments, and misconduct in a public office. She was further arrested for fraud offences when she was interviewed by officers on June 20 2014. She was subsequently re-bailed twice.

A police statement said: “A 35 year-old woman from Guildford…has been rebailed until 13 August. Following further interview today (Thursday, 7 August), a file has been submitted to the CPS for review.”
