A former pupil of Guildford County School made an impressive debut for Harlequins first team last week in their match against Northampton in the Rugby Union Premiership.
Second-row Hugh Tizard, 20, who stands 1.96m tall (6ft 5in) and weighs in at 120 kg (18st 13lb), began his rugby journey aged seven at Guildfordians, joining Harlequins in 2016 when 16.
On the England rugby website, Hugh says his parents, who live in Guildford, were the biggest influence on his career, his dad Jeremy giving him a good understanding of the game.
Hugh made his England age-grade debut in the U19 international against Wales in 2019.
A Liverpool fan, he also enjoys playing golf. No Country for Old Men is his favourite film and spaghetti bolognaise his go-to meal.
A spokesperson at Guildford County School said: “We are hugely proud of Hugh and his achievements at Harlequins and within the England set-up he is involved in. He is a driven and dedicated young man who deserves to be where he is at such an early stage in his career.
“To be thrown into a game as he was against Northampton, at the last minute, and deliver such an all-round performance on his debut is not something you see too often.
“We fondly remember him captaining the school rugby teams up until he finished his GCSE studies with us and how he played a pivotal part in the growth of the sport at County.
“We are certain he will become a role model for our current and future students and demonstrate where hard work can take you.”
