County Wide Police Operation Leads To Arrests and Charges

Police officers break down a door to a targeted address during operation Kirkos.

A successful police operation has led to number of arrestees being charged and others bailed, pending enquiries, following a two day operation to crack down on criminals across the county.

Operation Kirkos focused on the disruption of the supply of class A and class B drugs and the reduction of serious and acquisitive crime, with officers executing 43 warrants and arresting 39 people while also seizing and a substantial quantity of suspected drugs and property.

The early morning raids, which took place over two days (Tuesday, October 1 and Thursday, October 3), involved around 130 officers on Tuesday and around 150 officers on Thursday, with more than 40 addresses being searched.

The operation was mounted as a continued crackdown on the supply of drugs within local communities and the anti-social behaviour and serious and acquisitive crime associated with drug dealing, such as burglary, theft and handling stolen goods.

Those arrested during warrants carried out on Thursday, October 3 included a number at addresses within Guildford Borough:

  • Six men, all in their twenties, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs following a warrant at a business address in Station Road West, Ash Vale. They have been released on bail until either November 27 or 28. Another person was also arrested on suspicion of immigration offences.
  • A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class B drugs following a warrant at an address in Southway, Guildford and has been released on bail until November 20;
  • A 29-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were both arrested on suspicion of possession of class B drugs with intent to supply following a warrant at an address in Wellesley Close, Ash have both been released on bail until January 7 2014;
  • A 40-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs following a warrant at an address off The Chase in Guildford and released on police bail until December 19.
