Introducing Dan James, a photographer, graphic and web designer from Guildford. He takes stunning landscape and natural history photos and films. We are pleased he has agreed to feature some of them each month on The Guildford Dragon NEWS.
Dan says: “Photography hasn’t always been a passion of mine, but over the last five years I’ve found it a way to release my creativity. It’s relaxing, peaceful, exciting and it’s taken me to places I never thought I would go… Today everybody has a busy life, and it’s rare that we take time out to look at what a beautiful world we live in. “
“I would like to share some of my favorite photos of Guildford and Surrey with you, and hopefully show you some of the most beautiful places around our area.”
Here are five photos with Dan’s comments about each one.
Secretts garden centre near Godalming. A mother moorhen feeding her young. I was watching her for quite a while from the comfort of my car so as not to not disturb. I managed to sneak out and lay on the ground to capture her feeding her young before she spotted me!
Ash Ranges near Guildford. The ranges are a wonderful location for horse riding, bike riding and walking. We often cycle over there to capture the sunset – this one was especially wonderful.
Ash Ranges near Guildford. Another shot from the ranges, once the sun had set the moon came out! The pink hue looked lovely on the horizon with the moon shining bright in the sky.
Allotments, Guildford. Taken on my grandmother’s allotment, this little ladybird was about to go airborne!
Newark Priory near Ripley. Last year’s snowfall left the ruins looking beautiful.
