Digital Marketing Firm Cleans Up With A Volunteer Litter Pick

Staff from digital marketing firm Innovation Visual, based in Elstead, have been on a litter pick along the River Wey near Shalford and, in doing their bit for the environment, collected 12 bags of rubbish.

The litter pickers from Innovation Visual pose for a photo a St Catherine’s Lock.

They say: “We could not have chosen better weather for our first litter pick of the year! The sunlight glinting off the River Wey mirrored the glow of our hi-vis vests and shiny pickers.

“Everyone was invited, from team mates to their families and dogs and the atmosphere was buoyant.”

Having collected their equipment and received a quick safety brief early on, they split into two groups navigating in two directions and various side routes to clear what litter they could find.

Their haul included everything from crisp packets to bike wheels!

As part of their litter pick, they took part in the Canal and River Trust’s #PlasticsChallenge and have committed to picking up a piece of plastic each time they visit a river or canal.

And off they go in search of litter!

Innovation Visual’s premise is that if every visitor did this, then within a year there would be no plastic waste left in UK’s rivers and canals, so they urge everyone to take part.

They add: “Thanks must also go to Voluntary Action South West Surrey who put us in touch with Guildford Borough Council who collected the bags for responsible disposal and from whom we loaned the equipment for our pick.

“If you are thinking of doing a community litter pick in your local area, please do get in touch with your council and see what they can provide to help you.

The litter they collected is all bagged up and ready to be taken away.
