A group of amateur photographers will open their third exhibition of photographs and crafts at the Harvey Road Gallery, Guildford, on Monday, October 31. The exhibition – called Diversity – will run until Friday, November 11.
Calling themselves Pix ’n’ Mix, the group of photo enthusiasts held their first exhibition in 2014 and decided to make it an annual event. This year they will again include friends who are local crafts people, who make and design their own pottery and textiles. Many members of the group are staff or volunteers at the Guildford Adult & Community Learning Centre in Sydenham Road.
One of the group, former journalist David Reading, said: “Some of us use simple point-and-shoot cameras or mobile phones and the quality you can get from these is often first rate. These days everyone who carries a mobile phone is a photographer and we want to show people that they, too, can produce excellent photos with a bit of imagination.
“We call our exhibition Diversity for obvious reasons: our subjects are so varied, from wildlife and landscapes to more abstract pictures, as well as the wide range of crafts on display. We hope people will pay the exhibition a visit and perhaps be inspired to take their own imaginative photographs.”
Opening hours at the Harvey Gallery are 10.30am to 3.30pm on weekdays and 10.30am to 1pm on Saturday (closed Sunday) and entry to the exhibition is free.
