Theatre lovers are being urged not to miss the production of Coram Boy, this week. It is being performed by Guildford’s Performance Preparation Academy (PPA) at Holy Trinity Church, High Street.
Derek Barnes, the original Musical Director for The National Theatre’s production of the play and now has aided with musical supervision on this production, the first public performance by PPA students on the three year Professional Diploma in Musical Theatre.
PPA principal Rachel Crouch said: “We are so honoured and fortunate to have such a top industry professional working with our students.
“This performance will be the first of many productions PPA will be producing in Guildford. Next year there will be showings of The Fix, Witches of Eastwick and Little Women, to name a few.
“The three year Diploma Course may still only be in its infancy, but we have already established close contacts in the theatre, television and film; giving our students a unique opportunity in this highly competitive profession.
“Students at PPA have already achieved great success; Kara-Ami McCreanor came runner up in the Stephen Sondheim Student Performer of the Year Competition, fighting off competitors from other leading drama schools.
“We have had great pantomime success with four of our current students gaining leading roles in top pantomimes across the country; starring as Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty and Princess Jasmine in Aladdin.”
