Clare Price

Clare Price is new to politics but has put herself forward to be a borough councillor. She is standing as a Residents for Guildford & Villages candidate in the Tillingbourne GBC by-election, to be held on October 20

With only experience as a parish councillor for St Martha’s under her belt, Clare, in her first media interview, tells Martin Giles why she chose to join R4GV rather than a national party. A horse rider and dog walker Clare is particularly concerned with traffic levels on local lanes.

She gives her views on the controversial Local Plan and the pros and cons of tactical voting. She is about to kick off her campaign this weekend.

A map showing the GBC wards, with Tillingbourne a large but less densely populated ward in the south-east of the borough. The ward includes the villages of Albury, Gomshall, Peaslake and Shere, where the count will be held. Some new ward boundaries will be in place next May when the next borough council election is held.

The by-election was called following the death in May of Conservative Borough Councillor Richard Billington also a former Mayor of Guildford during the pandemic.

We hoped to interview all the candidates in the by-election. The interview with the Labour Party’s John Marsh and Sam Peters of the Green Party can be found here, we await a response from the Conservative candidate, Justin Offord and the Lib Dems would not agree to a video interview.
