Cllr Catherine Young

Anger in the villages to the east of Guildford over the impact of the Local Plan is tangible.

With green belt protection removed, unpopular developments have proved impossible to resist.

Guildford Greenbelt Group member, Catherine Young (Clandon & Horsley) spoke out strongly against the motion to delay a review of the plan at Tuesday’s (April 5) full borough council meeting. She feels any risk is worth taking.

In an interview with Dragon editor Martin Giles, she describes the impact of the Local Plan on her ward, her view of the expert legal advice given to Guildford Borough Council and the impact on local political allegiances.
