Family Pays Tribute to Ash Woman Joy Boulton – Murder Trial Scheduled For October

The family of 59-year-old Joy Boulton paid tribute to her this week following her death at her home in Church View, Ash, on May 11.

Police were called to her home by paramedics and when they arrived Joy was found dead inside the house with a head injury.

Later, 61-year-old Sara McKenzie, of Fairview Road, Ash, was charged with murder. Her trial will begin on October 30 at Guildford Crown Court.

This week Joy’s family released a statement saying they were deeply devastated and their lives had been changed forever.

“Joy was a good pupil at school and had many friends many of whom she kept in touch with,” the family said.

Joy Boulton was a good pupil at school. and later worked in Potters musical instrument shop in Aldershot.

“When she left school she continued with her education doing various courses from advancing her typing skills to book-keeping and accountancy.

“Joy cared for our parents when they both became ill. She was a very caring person. Joy was always ready to help other people whenever she could despite having many health and mobility problems herself. She fought many health problems over the years but always battled on.

“Joy will be sadly missed and never forgotten. All the family wish to thank everybody for their kind thoughts and support at this difficult time.”

Joy’s fiancé said, “After having known Joy for over 20 years but losing contact, we met again around two years ago when she found me. It was the happiest time of my life being with Joy. Joy was a truly wonderful and kind woman who will always be in my heart.”

Other members of Joy’s family said: “She was a vulnerable lady and a busy person who thought to help others. Joy was a great, fun character.”

Joy worked in Potters musical instrument store in Aldershot for over 25 years. A few years ago she fought for her life in hospital and bounced back.
