The Charlotte Ord Academy (COA) fitness centre in Guildford High Street had its grand opening on Saturday with lots of people attending.
Susan Turner, who works nearby in Neal’s Yard Remedies in Market Street, signed up as a new member of the gym that is above the Reebok store at 121 High Street. She said: “I am thrilled to bits a new gym has opened there. It’s been a dead space for two years since River Island left.”
Potential new gym members, family, friends and the full COA team listened to a seminar given by TV fitness expert Charlotte Ord herself. In it she made the comment: “Understand your brain, master your metabolism.” The red ribbon was then cut by manager Richard Jones and the academy officially opened for fitness!
Alison Faulkner lives in Guildford and has been going to the Charlotte Ord Academy in Godalming since January, she said: “The programme Charlotte has put together for me already has been really great. Now It will be good just to be able to walk to the gym.”
Susannah Weiland was the lucky winner of three month’s free membership in grand opening raffle. She had come all the way from Richmond upon Thames as she had heard about the Charlotte Ord Academy and liked its ethos.
Clearly fitness and health run in the family as Charlotte Ord’s brother runs Ret Hot Yoga in North Street, Guildford. He said: “I am extremely proud of my little sister’s achievements. Charlotte has always been a very conscientious with her work, becoming an expert in every aspect of the services she offers her clients.
“She is continually educating herself! Her business of offering lifestyle benefits far beyond a regular gym membership which fits perfectly with our ethos at Red Hot Yoga, where we encourage all our students to explore the many ways yoga can improve your body, your mind and your outlook on your day to day life.
“Because of this, we have introduced an affiliation between ourselves and the academy, so that clients of both can benefit from the most comprehensive, expert provision of health and lifestyle services available in Surrey.”
