Children’s character Peppa Pig drew lots of attention from people of all ages as she walked around the town centre.

An onlooker said: “The crowds went a bit wild and mums and toddlers fought to be snapped with her.

“Chaperoned by Guildford Street Angels, Peppa inspected the reindeer in front of Holy Trinity Church and Tunsgate Arch and then set off down the High Street for another stop in White Lion Walk, where the security guards struggled to marshall the excited crowd. All in all, much fun was had.”

Peppa was featured on the balcony of the Guildhall as part of the lights switch followed by a spectacular firework display that lasted a full 10 minutes.

The event was organised by Guildford Borough Council and Experience Guildford and by early evening the roads into the town were gridlocked with people making their way in.
