Get Funding for Your Guildford Community Project

Guildford Borough Council is starting the next round of Crowdfund Guildford for community projects. The council says the fund is the best way for local people to get support for ideas that really matter to our community.

Fundraisers can get the know-how, tools, and confidence they need to start their crowdfunding campaign at a free online workshop on Tuesday, January 28, from 12 noon to 1pm.

The deadline for project submissions is Wednesday, March 12.

There is a total of £100,000 available in the 2024-25 rounds. Funding will be given based on the projects that show they’re needed and supported by the community. So, it’s essential the fundraisers demonstrate how the project will make a difference to local people.

Cllr Julia McShane

Council Leader Julia McShane, says: “The Spring round of funding is now open to help our local community create the change they want to see. Your ideas matter and we’re here to help make them happen.

“If you have a vision for your community, Crowdfund Guildford is the number one way to get our support for your ideas. Give your project a boost, get the funding you need, and gain the support of your community along the way.

“I encourage everyone to register for the free workshop – come along and find out how together we can help to improve our communities for everyone.”

GBC provides two funding options to help make community projects come to life:

Fund one: standard projects

  • funding up to £5,000
  • great for small local community projects in Guildford borough
  • money can be raised from the community, and we will add up to £5,000 more or up to 50 per cent of the total project fundraising target.

Fund two: large capital projects

  • funding up to £25,000
  • perfect for big projects like installing solar panels, fixing community centres, or improving parks
  • for every pound raised, we can give up to £25,000 more to support big ideas, or up to 50 per cent of the total project fundraising target.

The council says it wants to help fund projects that:

  • help vulnerable groups: this includes supporting people who are hard to reach and come from different cultures
  • make rural areas better: this includes projects that prevent crime, protect nature and offer fun things to do
  • improve green spaces: we want to create or refurbish parks and other green spaces so everyone can enjoy them
  • encourage people to enjoy nature: we support efforts to help people experience wildlife and nature more easily
  • improve well being: we want to support projects that offer sports, arts, and fun activities that improve quality of life.

We also encourage schools and Parish Councils to apply for funding to help bring their community centred ideas come to life.

You can register for a place at the free online workshop.
