Guildford Walkfest, the annual celebration of fresh air and fun in and around the borough, will once again be taking place throughout September.
With more than 40 guided walks on the programme there is certain to be something to suit everyone regardless of age, ability or experience and as every year, all the walks are free, and everybody is welcome to join in.
This year the festival looks set to be more popular than ever as festival chairman Christine Howard explains. “This is the twelfth year of Walkfest, supported by Guildford Borough Council and sponsored by Bevan Wilson Physiotherapy and Hill Clements, two great local businesses that appreciate the value of supporting local community initiatives.
“We are particularly excited this year because the success of the event has drawn the attention of Ordnance Survey and we are delighted to add its first National Get Outside Day on Sunday, September 30, as a very fitting finale to this year’s event.”
Walks are designed to encourage people of all ages and abilities out into the beautiful countryside and splendid villages of Guildford Borough, many walks will be lead by local historians such as David Rose while others will have local plant and wildlife experts on hand to answer questions.
As James Avery, managing director of Bevan Wilson Physiotherapy, says: “Walking is great exercise and we should all get outside and celebrate the beautiful surroundings that we are lucky enough to live and work among.”
