Glorious Summer Means The Castle Grounds Are Looking Fantastic

The summer bedding in Guildford’s Castle Grounds is looking absolutely splendid as these pictures taken today (Monday, July 29) show.

While many local parks, grass verges and other open spaces are looking a little ‘bleached out” following the past month’s hot dry spell (although they are greening up somewhat following the rain showers over the past couple of days), the Castle Grounds are an oasis of colour.

Congratulations go to Guildford Borough Council’s parks team for once again making the Castle Grounds looking their summer best.

These photos were prompted by a Guildford Dragon NEWS reader from Victoria, Australia, emailing and jokingly asking: “Surely the snow has melted by now?” She added: “I would like to see photos of that record breaking summer you’re enjoying. I enjoyed the weather throughout the cricket [recent test match] but not the results.”

So, if you are a reader from overseas, this is what you are missing in the centre of Guildford at the present time. If you are local – go and see for yourself!

Have you taken any photos of ‘summer in Guildford 2013?’ If so, we’d like to see them and will include them in a gallery. Email to: drosedragon@gmail.com

Such wonderful photos of lovely flowers in the Castle Grounds. A big thank you goes to the two gardners who look after them. I am so lucky to be able to see and look at these beautiful grounds and flower as we bowl for Castle Green Bowling Club. Well done David for showing us the beauty of the Castle Grounds.
