Join local historian and writer David Rose on Saturday, June 18, for a circular walk along the River Wey Navigation starting at Pyrford Church and returning by public footpaths.
There will be stops along the way in which David will give snippets of the waterway’s and area’s history, including the sunken path known as the Sheep Walk that has a curious history and isn’t all it seems!
Meet at the car park at St Nicholas Church, Church Hill, Pyrford, Woking GU22 8XH at 10.30am.
You will be walking on footpaths and the edge of fields, so boots are advised if the ground is wet.
There will be some uneven ground and some slight inclines to negotiate.
David says: “The previous walk I led with the National Trust’s River Wey Navigations on April 23 – from Cart Bridge at Send to Triggs Lock, Sutton Green and back –was well attended and we had a great time, looking at the history of the waterway and some of the natural history too.
“There will be staff and volunteers from the National Trust walking with me, and the walk is suitable for all ages.”
The cost is £6 per person and you can book by phoning 01483 561389 or 0344 249 1895, or send an email to: riverwey@nationaltrust,org.uk, or to book online click here for the National Trust River Wey Navigation’s website and then click the box ‘Check availability’ that will take you to the Eventbrite booking page, or alternatively click here to go direct to it.

Can we bring dogs? If so is there a charge for them?
David Rose replies: dogs go free! Come on down!
