Guildford Institute’s summer programme is out, offering a diverse range of talks, courses, trips and events.
Highlights include a special event on Thursday, June 12 – a talk given by esteemed guide and art history lecturer, Valerie Woodgate. In this talk, she will uncover the strategies artists employ to provoke our emotions.
The course programme promises to be another highlight this summer, with courses covering a wide range of subjects from art history, bridge, and local history.
On the local history front, historian and tutor David Rose (also of The Guildford Dragon NEWS) will be giving another series of weekly illustrated talks. Topics covered will be: Guildford Past and Present Views – comparing the things that have changed – and those that haven’t. Entertainment – pubs, bars, cinemas and music venues. A Miscellany of Guildford in the First World War – based on the institute’s own unique scrapbooks – and a look at Guildford in the Second World War.
This year the institute will also be trialing a ‘summer school’ with two art courses and one literature course tobe held in August.
Book soon to avoid disappointment. You can view the summer programme on the Guildford Institute’s website Alternatively, for more information or to order a brochure, call 01483 562142.
