Police drugs image 475Three arrests for drug-related offences and theft were made in Guildford on Friday (November 8), as part of a crackdown on criminals across the borough.

A number of addresses were targeted in the Guildford area, resulting in two arrests for possession of class A drugs and one arrest for theft.

The operation focused on the disruption of criminal activity and the supply of drugs within the local community and the anti-social behaviour and serious and acquisitive crime associated with drug dealing, such as burglary, theft and handling stolen goods.

As well as the arrests, the early morning raid also resulted in the recovery of drugs and stolen property.

West Surrey Temporary Detective Inspector Amy Buffoni said: “These arrests demonstrate Surrey Police’s commitment to disrupting criminal networks and cracking down on the supply and use of drugs in our community. It also sends a strong message to those committing crime or dealing drugs that we will relentlessly pursue them.

“If you have been a victim of anti-social behaviour linked to drug use please ensure you report this to your Safer Neighbourhood Team. This can be done anonymously and action will be taken.”

T/DI Buffoni added: “Surrey Police is committed to making Guildford a safe and pleasant place to live and we will continue to take action to ensure we live up to this pledge.”

Those arrested following Friday’s warrants included:

  • a 34-year-old woman from Guildford arrested on suspicion of possession of a class A drug and handling stolen goods. She has been released on bail and is due to return to Guildford police station on 6 December;
  • a 17-year-old man from Guildford on suspicion of possession of a class A drug. He has been released on bail and is due to return to Guildford police station on 8 January;
  • a 25-year-old man from Gomshall on suspicion of theft of a cheque book. He has been released on bail and is due to return to Guildford police station on 6 December.
