Guildford Fringe Festival 2016 Is Ready To Go!

Guildford Fringe Festival 2016 is now only just around the corner and preparations are in full swing.

Guildford fringe festivalIt runs from July 1 to 31 and now in its fourth year, will offer almost 100 events across 12 venues.

They have been already been welcoming full houses into its monthly comedy clubs, You Must Be Stoking and Guildford Gag House as well as producing the first play of 2016, Mummy, which went down a storm.

The festival is based on the model of Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It is smaller but the values remain the same. The intention is to give a platform for performers and audiences to try something new at an affordable cost.

This year, through partnering with the White Lion Walk shopping centre, Guildford Fringe is offering its first ever walk-in festival box officein the twon centre.

The festival’s artistic director Nick Wyschna said: “I am thrilled to have been given this fabulous opportunity for Guildford Fringe Festival and I cannot thank White Lion Walk enough. To have it supporting the arts in our town is a huge deal and should be acknowledged and respected.”

The box office will be hosting the work of some Surrey artists and photographers. All artwork on display will be for sale with a percentage of this going to Challengers, a local charity both thr White Lion Walk and Guildford Fringe Festival are proud to support.

Throughout July, photographer Sue Roche will be exhibiting her work in the box office. Sue specialises in capturing alternative views of landscapes, people and architecture and is inspired by new environments, movement and light.

The Guildford Fringe will exhit Rebecca Clegg's beautiful and colourful paintings between July 23 to 31.

Wildlife artist Peter Bailey will have his work on display from July 2 to 10, and John Darrell will be exhibiting between July 18 to 24, bringing his fantastic landscape photography of the local area.

The box office will also display the beautiful and colourful paintings of Rebecca Clegg, who has a studio on the edge of the Surrey Hills. Her work will be on display between July 23 to 31.

Guildford Fringe is delighted that students from St Peter’s Catholic School and Guildford High School will be exhibiting some of their GCSE and A-level artwork.

If you’re looking for things to do with your children, visit the box office and exhibition during the weekends of July. Planned activities will include story time, face painting and some family friendly workshops.

    The Guildford Fringe is a sensational addition to our cultural and entertainment offering, we should all be very proud of the remarkable efforts of Nick Wyschna and his team.
