The trustees of the Guildford Institute in Ward Street are looking for someone with an accountancy background who is interested in taking on the role of treasurer.
It is a charitable educational trust that has been located in the centre of Guildford for more than 170 years.
It is led by an enthusiastic board of trustees and managed by a dedicated team of staff.
Trustees and staff alike are committed to developing and maintaining the institute’s role as a major resource and community hub that seeks to enhance the lives of those living in Guildford and its environs by promoting interest in education, heritage and culture.
While financial matters are the responsibility of all trustees, the treasurer has a key role in guiding trustees and the institute manager with advice and reassurance on all aspects of financial management, reporting, controls and compliance.
The institute’s small team of enthusiastic board members meet on Thursday mornings every six weeks, in addition to which the treasurer offers advice and support to the institute manager in monitoring monthly budgets.
There are also occasional meetings of subcommittees in which the treasurer is usefully involved. Commitment in time varies, but is not less than four days per month.
Anyone interested in applying for the role, or in finding out more, should contact Amy Rice, the acting manager, by calling 01483 562142 or emailing amy@guildford-institute.org.uk.
