September in Guildford has many highlights for those who enjoy being out of doors.

Guildford Walkfest starting today (September 1), is a series of organised walks designed to encourage people of all ages to get out and enjoy the wonderful town and countryside around Guildford (www.guildfordwalkfest.co.uk).

Heritage Open Days 2022 takes place from Friday to Sunday, September 9 to 11, https://www.heritageopendays.org.uk/visiting. On this weekend, there will be a lot of special openings and activities which are free of charge.

The Guildford Town Guide volunteers are heavily involved in both events.

Astonishing Inventions is the Heritage weekend theme this year, and on Saturday, September 10, at 2.30pm you can join our new walk discovering Guildford’s inventions from the 16th century to the current day.

There will be many other walks during the month, such as Pubs and Inns, Royal Guildford, Georgian Guildford, Hidden Guildford, Guildford Markets and Kings, Worthies and Scoundrels, as well as some Guildford Story walks.

Please go to our website for further details https://guildfordwalks.org.uk

A recent walker  wrote: “The past comes alive in the voices of the guides as they colour in the living history book that is the town.”

If you have questions or wonder what the town was like in the past, come and join one of our free guided walks.
