Emma Stevens, one of Guildford’s most talented singer/songwriters who has been featured on Radio 2 has just released a new single “Never Gonna Change.
She is a real local girl raised in Shalford and one of the Stevens family that used to run Dapdune boatyard. The Guildford Dragon caught up with her for a short interview…
Can you give the Guildford Dragon readers a quick catch up of your last year?
It’s been a crazy year! I released my second album, “Waves”, I have been on two tours up and down the country, I’ve been over to Holland three times, performed on The Late Late show in Ireland and spent three weeks writing in Nashville! Please head over to my website to read my Nashville blog!
What was the inspiration for your new single Never Gonna Change?
The song is about encouraging people to stay true to themselves. I have heard too many stories about people being told they need to act/dress/be a certain way to fit in. I wanted to inspire my listeners into feeling good about the person they are and not listen to the negativity!
Was any of the video shot in Guildford?
Yes! In fact, most of it. The Mount is a good go to place for me, such beautiful views! And some was shot in Shalford where I grew up.
Have you ever thought about doing a gig at G Live?
I would love to!
What are your plans for the next year, where can your Guildford fans see you?
I am hoping to put new material out, more gigs and yes – please come to my gig on 30th July at Bar des Arts. xx
How about a song about Alice in Wonderland – given the current anniversary and the Guildford connection?
If Taylor Swift hadn’t got there first! Great idea though, I might give it a go!
